In our Level Design Module, before actually creating the level itself in Unreal Engine, we had to create various materials in Pre-Production so that we could plan out what needed to be done.
First, we had to decide on a premise for a level.
I used a Miro Board, as it was a place I could accordingly sort out ideas and the likes.
My three ideas were a Bank Heist, a Shopping Centre, and a Parliment Building. After speaking with my tutors, I decideded that the Parliment Building would be the most unique scenario.
Next, we had to create a flow chart and beat chart, which dictates the flow of the level and in what order the player should perform actions.
I then designed a Level Design document. This discussed the narrative for the level, the missions and style of it, and various reference images for what I wanted certain enviornments to resemble.
I also drew out unique scenario ideas, which you can see below.
Additionally, this Pre-Production document also had me make a Level Design map, in which I present what I plan for my level to contain.
This helped allow me to be able to visualise my level in that I could easily block it out without struggling for design ideas.
