Level Design - Blockout

Blocking out my level took longer than I wanted, but I still managed to complete it.

One tip I used for Blocking Out was the use of building upon planes. I took images from the map I made earlier for my level design document, and pasted them onto planes. I then built on top of them. This helped me to generally lay out my rooms without issue and not aimlessly try to build a functioning level.

An example of doing so can be seen below in a scrapped area for my level.

One other tool that helped me was the Modelling Mode Cube blockout tool. This allowed me easily to create rooms without needing to constantly add new cubes to stitch them together.

The way it worked was simple, first draw out the size of the room.

Then I pulled out the first layer.

From here, I am able to pull it up higher, before pushing it down the middle. This helped me create all three floors of my level, and for it to be structured as I wanted it to be.
